Perfection is an illusion we all strive for…
Stephen Hawking's once said: “One of the basic rules of the universe is that nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn’t exist. Without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist.”
We all dream that at one point or another we will achieve perfection. And the sad part is that Perfection DOESN’T EXIST.
Yeah you heard me, it does not exist. You see even the most appreciated art works in the world are not perfect, and yet they are still loved and admired by many.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t keep working at improving ourselves, it’s just a reminder that we should make achievable goals in our life. There will always be someone smarter, prettier, more sociable, richer then us.
Society can get to us these days more then ever, especially with the powers of social media, and everyone needing to be politicly correct towards everyone, it can be exhausting.
I’ve read a while back Atomic Habits by James Clear, and he explains in the book how we should try to improve our performance by 1 % at a time, this way if we want to improve by 1 % per week at a certain task we are doing, in 10 weeks we will already be 10% better then we were before.
I might not be explaining it very well, but to me this sounds so much more doable then jumping at being perfect…
