I wonder why do we need better?

Don’t get me wrong, I know that the need for bigger faster or better is the main drive for progress and evolution otherwise we wouldn’t have aeroplanes, cars or the medical wonders we take for granted. What I am on about are the consumer products we buy for ourselves every year or two like laptops, phones, TVs or (who can afford them) cars. About the phones: they are getting at incredible prices of over $1000 with all kind of capabilities like 30 megapixels, 500 GB of storing memory, contactless payments or 5g networking. Tell me something please: when was the last time you looked at the 30 megapixels photos on something bigger than your phone, tablet, laptop or TV screen? Those 30 megapixels will actually shine on something several feet wide where you can actually see all those details they captured.
